13. What year did Finland host Olympics?
14. How many Finnish drivers have won Formula 1 (drivers') championship? (I will also accept another answer if it includes explanation why it's right)

Re: Independence Day Quiz

1. Finnish and Swedish are official, Russian used to be before independence and until creation of official constitution
2. we just passed 5.5 million
3. answer is 12
4. actually, aside the modern "Euro Hockey Tour" (played since early 90's and practically counts as European championship), Finland never won ice hockey European championship; the sport in which we have best record in Europe is American football
5. I have mentioned this before. Those are the two places in US/American continents that have once been part of same country as Finland (Alaska in Russian empire and the other place as Swedish colony of New Sweden)
6. 2; 1995 & 2011
7. HIM (originally His Infernal Majesty)
8. 14 - sadly the damned French just got to 15 this year
9. Nokia is among the very short list of towns where I've driven car
10. to be exact, could've been King of Finland; there never actually was one

12. 4 (Bengt Holmström just got economics prize last year)
13. seriously, you don't know Olympics? Helsinki Olympics were 1952
14. 3: Keke Rosberg 1982, Mika Häkkinen 1998&1999, Kimi Räikkönen 2007 (4th would be Nico Rosberg 2016 as Finnish citizen, but officially drove under German licence)
15. 1918, right after independence
16. yep, our pesäpallo is a bastard of baseball
17. Renny Harlin it is
18. the Crimean War
19. 1, Lordi's Hard Rock Hallelujah
20. 63

I'll score it (giving half points here and there for closer):

Catcher 4
Sven 5

But I skipped one question, here's last chance for tie:

Hint for question 11: emoticon
What video game franchise is the main product of Finnish developer Rovio?

Re: Independence Day Quiz

Correct!

Fun fact: "rovio" is Finnish for bonfire - thus the flame shape of their logo

Re:

Well you didn't give me a chance to answer on 11 the second time around but it wouldn't have mattered because I didn't know. I'm impressed I got four of them! emoticon
