Hrungnir was a stone Giant from Norse legend who boasted his great strength and fine horse that he owned.
Although he loved his own horse. Hrungnir admired the horse of the god Odin called Sleipnir. Sleipnir was a very famous that was renowned for its great speed. So the Giant challenged Odin to a race on the condition that the winner would own their opponents horse. During the race, every time Hrungnir thought he was ahead, he would see Odin in the distance. He was tricked into racing passed the gates of Asgard and into the realm of the gods. There he admitted defeat but stayed to dine with the gods. While drunk he lost his temper and argued that he would destroy the gods.
To settle the dispute he entered single combat with Thor. During the fight, Hrungnir parried the blow of Thor’s hammer with his stone club. The stone club shattered and a splinter went into Thor’s head. In pain he released the hammer which flew into Hrungnir, killing him.

Re:

Iaroslavna

A Sorceress from the tales of Eastern Europe. She used her magical powers to protect her husband Igor from harm.

Igor is the main protagonist in the famous tale Lay of Igor's Campaign. When his kingdom comes under threat by invaders Igor gathers together an army. Iarosalvna urges him to seek blessings for protection but Igor disbelieve this kind of magic. Instead he believes he must go to battle to deal with the threat.

As Igor is in the intense battle, his wife helps by using her magical powers. She enchants nature to invoke nature creatures that then attack Igor's enemies in the battle. however she neglects the spells to enchant Mother Earth who nevertheless awakens and fights Igor's men in the battle. The Sorceresses' powers are greater still and Igor is protected by the enchanted elements of nature.

Igor is glad that the battle is won and that the threat has been dispelled but realises how foolish he was not to seek refuge in nature magic. He then resolves to appease all the elements of nature that helped him most of all Mother Earth by presenting himself as her supplicant. He restores the land to peace and thereon the elements of nature with respect."
